Captain and Crew Duties

Responsibilities
Captain and Crew duties are very important.  Please read the appropriate material on the additional pages to ensure you know your responsibilities when attending a sail.  If you have questions, please contact your Captain via a Meetup message or email us at LakeMichiganSailingClub@gmail.com
Captain Duties
Crew Duties

The Lake Michigan Sailing Club coordinates sailing events throughout the midwest sailing season.  We disembark for daysails throughout the week from the five Lake Michigan harbors: Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Winthrop Harbor and Waukegan, and some events will include overnight cruises.  Each sailing event is managed with a Meetup event to communicate details about the sail.  All skill levels are welcome and all are expected to contribute to the sailing experience.

To ensure each member has a common expectation of our events, the following guidelines are included for easy reference for event checklists and responsibilities.

For each member of Lake Michigan Sailing Club, the highest priority is safety.  Come prepared with safety equipment as well as a safety attitude.  This includes the utmost respect for the Captains hosting crew on their sailboats.  The Captain has the last word on any topic.

The second responsibility of each member is courtesy; courtesy for the Captain, for fellow crew members and for all those with whom we come in contact with such as dockhands, neighbors and attendants.

Third, each member has a role in contributing to each other's enjoyment, comfort and camaraderie.
